Season 8 recap Spoilers — open after watching
This recap reveals the events of season 8.
A port-to-port killer works the fleet's edges, and the agency's own watchdog circles while he does.
The Reynosa siege resolves fast - the cartel's leverage spent, the Hernandez file surviving in the one drawer that matters - and the year settles into a long-game season. Its through-line is the Port-to-Port Killer: a body in Rota, another stateside, victims marked and moved across the Navy's global geography by someone who understands fleet logistics from the inside. The case escalates until it is inside the wire - a dead agent, a booby-trapped car, and the reveal that the killer is a product of a black program the agency itself would prefer stay buried.
Around the hunt, the season plays office politics for keeps: EJ Barrett's team imported over Gibbs' objections, DiNozzo handed a covert assignment by Vance whose real target is unclear even to him, and the SecNav's fingerprints on operations nobody will own aloud.
It ends with the Port-to-Port endgame tangling every thread - a microchip cut out of an agent's arm, trust inside the building at low tide, and the year's last shot putting DiNozzo's assignment and a dying colleague in the same frame, the season closing on the cost of secrets kept in-house.
