Season 13 recap Spoilers — open after watching
This recap reveals the events of season 13.
Gibbs rebuilt, a manhunt for The Calling's architect - and Ziva's farmhouse burns with the year's last breath.
Recovery is the opening arc's subject and the season's undertow: Gibbs healed in body on a Navy surgeon's table and unsettled everywhere else, second- guessing the rules he wrote. The Calling's architect, Daniel Budd, is run down across the year's first movement and the file closed with the team's usual finality.
The season's middle is transition played warm: McGee moves into senior-agent weight, Bishop's divorce completes, and the show says goodbye by increments to its longest-running double act as DiNozzo's restlessness stops being subtext.
The end pays it off with the franchise's heaviest reveal. A rogue former MI6 officer, Trent Kort, covering his tracks, orders a farmhouse in Israel destroyed - Ziva's farmhouse, with the news reporting her among the dead. The grief detonates the finale, the team takes Kort apart file by file until the last frame answers him collectively - and in the wreckage DiNozzo learns what Ziva never told him: a daughter, Tali, small and suddenly his. He hands in his badge to be her father, and walks out of the show carrying her backpack.
