Season 11 recap Spoilers — open after watching
This recap reveals the events of season 11.
Six months out, dragged back by a corpse wearing Booth's identity, and a puppeteer who keeps his dead on strings.
Retirement lasts half a year. The body that reopens the lab is burned past recognition and carries Seeley Booth's effects - and the season premiere runs the team's grief at full speed before the misdirection resolves: the dead man is Booth's brother Jared, and the trail Booth vanished chasing is the season's first arc. Brennan, back at the table where she is most herself, prosecutes the mystery of her own husband with the finale-grade fury of someone who has already buried him once that week.
The year's midpoint spends a different debt: Arastoo's proposal, Cam's answer, and Hodgins - caught in a blast working a case - waking without the use of his legs. The show refuses the tidy arc: his recovery stalls, his bitterness is allowed to be ugly, and Angela's endurance is written as work rather than saintliness.
The season's monster earns the title: the Puppeteer, a killer who keeps victims' bodies, poses them, speaks through them - and the finale walks the team into his workshop by the show's oldest trick, a suspect hiding inside the interns' own rotation of trust. It ends mid-breath, with Brennan taken, and the cliff held over the break.
