The Grave Digger: all four core episodes
Start with Aliens in a Spaceship, season 2, episode 9. These four episodes follow the central Grave Digger case across seasons 2–6: the first investigation, a return, the trial and the final chapter.

What is the first Grave Digger episode?
Aliens in a Spaceship (S02E09). The villain is not introduced by an on-screen identity reveal here, so an appearances-only list can miss the story’s actual starting point.
Why are there only four episodes in this guide?
This is a case order, not a search for every reference to the villain. The four selections carry the main investigation and its legal aftermath. Later mentions and the sniper’s subsequent cases are different viewing goals, so they are not padded into the core list.
Can I use this on my first watch?
You can locate a remembered case with this list, but a new viewer will miss changes in the team and its relationships between these seasons. Use the full Bones episode list for a first watch; choose the broader Essentials path only if you accept its selective coverage.
Which episodes continue the follow-up investigation?
The sniper thread introduced in The Bullet in the Brain continues in The Killer in the Crosshairs (S06E15) and The Hole in the Heart (S06E22). Add those two after the four core entries if that is the investigation you want to finish. They are not two more Grave Digger attacks.

Jacob Broadsky shoots Heather Taffet in The Bullet in the Brain (S06E11). That event connects this case to the separate sniper storyline; it is not the same resolution as the season-five trial.
