Pokémon watch order: Ash’s 25 seasons and where Horizons starts
25 Ash seasons + the Horizons routeReviewed
For Ash and Pikachu, start with Indigo League and follow seasons 1–25 below, including To Be a Pokémon Master at the end of Ultimate Journeys. For a new cast, start with Pokémon Horizons: The Series; you do not need to finish Ash’s run first.

Coverage & selection notes
A spoiler-light series and season order using English release names, reviewed October 24, 2026. This is not an episode-by-episode filler list or a movie chronology. Streaming parts, Japanese series names and English seasons do not always match. Horizons announcements are separated from released viewing choices.

Use the season names as the handoff points. Finish the episodes supplied for one season before moving to the next title; this guide does not identify individual episodes to skip. The table follows the English season catalogue, rather than treating every Japanese series rebrand as another numbered season.
For a manageable first watch, set Indigo League as your first stopping point instead of committing to the whole franchise. If you want Ash’s long-running story, continue down the list. If you want a new starting cast, use the Horizons route below. These are our viewing recommendations, not a claim that both routes must be completed.
Can I start with Pokémon Horizons?
| Order | Title | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Pokémon Horizons: The Series | Begin the Liko and Roy route here. |
| 2 | Pokémon Horizons: Season 2—The Search for Laqua | Continue after the first Horizons season. |
| 3 | Pokémon Horizons: Season 3—Rising Hope | Continue after The Search for Laqua. |
| Announced next | Pokémon Horizons: Season 4—Wonders Ahead | U.S. premiere announced for February 27, 2027; not a released step as of this review. |
Yes. Horizons introduces a new leading cast, so our recommendation is to start at its first episode if this is the series you want to watch. There is no need to treat Ash’s 25 seasons as homework. Keep the Horizons seasons themselves in order.
The Pokémon Company’s October 6, 2026 announcement says the first three Horizons seasons are available in the U.S. and gives the fourth season a February 2027 launch. That is a U.S. announcement, not a worldwide release date. Check your local listing before planning around it.
Why does my streaming service show different seasons or parts?
Match the title before the number. A service can divide one season into several release parts, or package a closing chapter separately. “Part 4” on an app is not automatically the fourth season in this list.
To Be a Pokémon Master belongs at the end of Ultimate Journeys. The official Pokémon release calls it the concluding collection for that series; some catalogues show it as a separate title. Check whether your Ultimate Journeys listing already includes it before watching it twice.
Indigo League is another place to check coverage: Netflix’s February 2026 catalogue article lists 52 episodes in its offering. That listing is not proof that the entire original season contains only 52 episodes. Use episode titles to check what your service actually supplies; do not jump to the next season solely because an app’s bundle has ended.
Do I need the movies or Pokémon Concierge?
This route covers the television series. We recommend keeping the films as optional additional viewing rather than interrupting the table with guessed episode placements. Optional here means outside this guide’s route; it does not mean every film can be inserted anywhere without continuity differences or spoilers. A full film-by-film order is outside this page’s researched scope.
Pokémon Concierge is a separate stop-motion series set at a Pokémon resort. It is a different viewing choice, not the next numbered season of Ash’s story or Horizons. Choose it when you want that format; it is not a required bridge between the two main series.
Which route is right for a first watch?
We have not labelled a fast cut through Pokémon as “essential episodes”. A reliable cut would need episode-level continuity research. Until that exists, the useful shortcut is choosing which series you want—not pretending hundreds of unreviewed episodes are disposable.
| You want… | Start here | What this choice leaves out |
|---|---|---|
| The original Ash and Pikachu beginning | Indigo League, then the numbered table | Movies and specials are outside the table. |
| A new cast and a more recent entry point | Horizons season 1 | Ash’s earlier adventures are not covered by this route. |
| A separate stop-motion story | Pokémon Concierge | This is not a route through the main anime. |
