Coverage & selection notes
A first-watch order through the first Infinity Castle film, reviewed October 5, 2026. Episode numbers in the table restart within each named arc. Later Infinity Castle films are outside this reviewed route; compilation screenings are explained separately.
Demon Slayer watch order for a first viewing
| Order | What to watch | How much |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc | Episodes 1–26 |
| 2 | Mugen Train Arc — TV version OR the Mugen Train movie | 7 TV episodes OR 1 film |
| 3 | Entertainment District Arc | Episodes 1–11 |
| 4 | Swordsmith Village Arc | Episodes 1–11 |
| 5 | Hashira Training Arc | Episodes 1–8 |
| 6 | Infinity Castle — first film | 1 film; follows Hashira Training |
Follow the arc names, even if your service numbers its seasons differently. Each TV row starts at episode 1 within that arc; the table does not use a continuous episode count. Finish one row before moving to the next.
Our default is the seven-episode Mugen Train TV version. That gives you 63 TV episodes through Hashira Training, then the first Infinity Castle film. This is a count of entries, not a running-time estimate: several episodes are longer than a standard instalment.
Mugen Train movie or TV arc?
The TV adaptation includes a new Rengoku prologue and added scenes, music and episode material. Episodes 2–7 retell the central movie story. Watching both versions is a choice for extra detail, not a missing chapter you must complete.
The movie route contains 56 TV episodes plus Mugen Train and the first Infinity Castle film. Add the TV prologue and it becomes 57 TV episodes plus those two films. Do not add all seven TV episodes to the movie route when estimating how much new story remains.
| Your situation | Recommended choice |
|---|---|
| Starting fresh | Watch all 7 TV episodes, then Entertainment District. |
| Prefer a movie night | Watch the Mugen Train film, then Entertainment District. |
| Want the TV prologue with the movie | Watch Mugen Train TV episode 1, then the film. |
| Already watched the movie | You can continue to Entertainment District; TV episode 1 is an optional extra. |
Which theatrical releases repeat TV episodes?
These event screenings join the end of one arc to the beginning of the next. If you have already watched those TV episodes, the screenings are not required again for continuity.
Do not apply that advice to every film with Demon Slayer in the title. Mugen Train supplies a story arc in film form, and Infinity Castle continues beyond Hashira Training. Their role in the route is different from the two compilation screenings.
| Release | Material included | If you follow the TV route |
|---|---|---|
| To the Swordsmith Village | Entertainment District episodes 10–11 and Swordsmith Village episode 1 | Optional repeat screening; not another story arc. |
| To the Hashira Training | Swordsmith Village episode 11 and Hashira Training episode 1 | Optional repeat screening; not a substitute for either complete arc. |
Does Demon Slayer need a filler skip list?
Our first-watch recommendation keeps every episode in the chosen TV route. We do not remove training, recovery or character episodes simply because there is less fighting, or because a scene was expanded for television.
The useful saving here is avoiding duplicate versions of the same material. Pick one Mugen Train treatment and leave the two compilation screenings optional. That gives you a clear route without making a scene-by-scene manga-purity claim.
What should I watch before Infinity Castle?
Finish Hashira Training episode 8 after watching the preceding arcs. The first Infinity Castle film is the next entry in this guide, not a recap you can substitute for the earlier series.
This route stops at the first film. The Infinity Castle project is a trilogy, but a trilogy announcement does not mean all three films are available. Later instalments need a fresh release and order check before they join this list.
Avoid reading a film synopsis to work out where it fits: those summaries can reveal developments from the preceding arcs. The order table gives you the placement without describing their outcomes.
Why do different apps show different season numbers?
Services can group Mugen Train and Entertainment District together or list each arc separately. A season number alone is therefore a poor matching key. Use the full arc name and the number of episodes in the table.
If you have finished Mugen Train in either form, look for Entertainment District next. If you have finished Swordsmith Village, look for Hashira Training. You do not need to restart just because the next app uses a different season label.
This is viewing-order advice, not a promise that every entry is included with one subscription. Check the actual title, language and regional listing in your service before planning a viewing session.
