Stargate watch order: SG-1, Atlantis, Universe and the movies

The main Stargate watch order

Watch every episode inside each listed block. Multipart premieres may be combined on your service; match the story titles in the notes if its episode numbers differ.

Would you rather alternate SG-1 and Atlantis?

Pair SG-1 season 8 with Atlantis season 1, SG-1 season 9 with Atlantis season 2, and SG-1 season 10 with Atlantis season 3. Watch in original air-date order within each pair if you enjoy the weekly back-and-forth; keep multipart stories together.

At the first switch, finish SG-1’s two-part season-eight opener before the Atlantis premiere. Finish SG-1’s season-eight finale before the Atlantis season-one finale. In the final overlap, watch Atlantis’s season-three opening two-parter before SG-1 S10E03.

The block order above trades some small references for fewer switches. GateWorld’s linked optimized list gives a more granular alternative. Choose one approach and stay with it; switching between different timelines halfway through creates more confusion than the occasional passing reference.

Do I need both SG-1 movies?

Include The Ark of Truth when continuing the main SG-1 story. Continuum is another SG-1 adventure; the placement above follows its connection to the Atlantis season-five premiere. Neither film replaces the 1994 starting point.

Film titles are easy to confuse in a streaming library. Check the year or full subtitle before pressing play, especially if your service groups all three under Stargate.

What about Origins, Infinity and the shorts?

Keep Stargate Origins / Origins: Catherine as an optional later extra, even though it is a prequel. It is not the clearest introduction to the original film and television series. The animated Stargate Infinity is outside this live-action route. Universe’s short-form extras are also optional here.
