Dexter watch order: New Blood, Original Sin and Resurrection

Recommended order for a first watch

Use this route if you are new to Dexter. A new subtitle does not necessarily mean a fresh start: the later shows build on an audience’s familiarity with the earlier ones.

What changes in chronological order?

At a broad series level, the timeline route is Original Sin → Dexter → New Blood → Resurrection. Original Sin’s central story takes place earlier, so it moves to the front.

We recommend the release route above for newcomers. “Set earlier” and “best introduction” are different choices. Use the timeline route for a return visit if seeing the earlier period first is what you want; it is not a scene-by-scene edit.

Can I skip New Blood before Resurrection?

Keep New Blood. Paramount+ identifies Resurrection as its continuation. Reading an ending summary to replace it is a poor fit if you are trying to avoid spoilers.

Original Sin occupies a different position: it is the prequel branch. For a direct sequel route, watch Dexter → New Blood → Resurrection, then return to Original Sin. This is our practical alternative, rather than a claim that the prequel is part of New Blood’s episode numbering.

Does BingePath recommend skipping Dexter episodes?

This page does not make episode-level cuts. Watch episodes in their displayed order within each show. A ranking of weaker episodes would not, by itself, establish that their story material is safe to omit.

When searching a streaming library, use the full subtitle. New Blood, Original Sin and Resurrection are separate series entries, not season names to enter into the original show’s episode selector.
