Black Clover filler list: what to skip in episodes 1–170

Original episodes 1–170Reviewed

For the original Black Clover run, watch episodes 1–170 in order. The optional filler list below removes 18 episodes and keeps 152, including mixed and anime-canon material. This lookup does not classify the 2026 continuation.

Coverage & selection notes

Uses absolute numbering from the original 170-episode TV run. Filler labels follow Anime Filler List, a community classification rather than an official canon ruling. The continuation, film and specials are outside the episode lookup.

Which route should I choose?

For a first watch, start at episode 1 and use the conservative lookup above only when you want to shorten the run. It keeps anime-original material as well as manga adaptations. A filler label describes where the material comes from; it is not a review of whether an episode is enjoyable.

If you mainly enjoy the squad spending time together, watch all 170. If you want fewer detours, omit the 18 listed episodes. Either way, keep the remaining episodes in their original order rather than treating the season groupings in your streaming app as separate stories.

What do the four episode labels mean?

These are the source’s editorial categories, not four official grades of importance. Our default keeps disputed context. “Not in the manga” alone is not enough for this guide to tell a first-time viewer to skip an episode.

What do the four episode labels mean?
LabelHow this guide handles it
Manga canonKeep. The source identifies an adaptation of the manga.
Mixed canon/fillerKeep. Adapted material and additions share the episode.
Anime canonKeep. The source separates these anime-original stories from its filler list.
FillerOptional in this shorter route. Watch it if you want the complete anime experience.

Can I skip episodes 130–157?

Not as one block in this route. This is the most useful boundary to check carefully: the source splits this stretch between anime-canon and filler entries. Keep 130, 132–133, 136–141 and 150–157. Only 131, 134–135 and 142–149 enter the optional list.

In particular, the lookup resumes at 150 after the 142–149 detour. It does not jump straight to 158. The shorter route trades some side-story context for fewer episodes; keeping the surrounding anime-original material makes that a less aggressive cut.

If you already know the story and want a strictly manga-adaptation-only rewatch, that is a different selection. This page does not silently apply that stricter rule to a first watch.

Episodes to keep beside the skip ranges

Use these return points if you skip an entire range. Episodes 30 and 69 stay because the source marks them mixed. The same protection applies to the other mixed entries: 2, 8–9, 12 and 102. Do not round a range to the next season break.

Where does Sword of the Wizard King fit?

Our recommendation for a newcomer is to finish the original TV run through episode 170, then watch Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King as an optional film. This is a viewing recommendation, not a claim that its events happen after episode 170.

Netflix describes the movie as an original story supervised by manga creator Yūki Tabata. It is not a replacement for the TV episodes. Watching it after the original run avoids interrupting that run to resolve a precise internal timeline position.

You can leave the film for later if your immediate goal is the TV story. Its original material does not make it worthless, and this guide does not label it an official non-canon release.

What comes after episode 170?

The 2026 continuation is presented as Black Clover Second Season by Crunchyroll. Treat it as the next TV series entry after the original run, using its own episode labels. The old 170-episode list is not a complete count of all Black Clover releases.

The lookup deliberately stops at 170: entering 171 returns no recommendation. New episodes need their own classification check; an empty skip list for an unreviewed continuation would misleadingly look like a researched keep-everything decision.

If your service divides the original run into several seasons, match its episode to the original absolute number before using this list. Do not enter a season-relative episode 1 from the continuation into the original-run lookup.
