Season 7 recap Spoilers — open after watching
This recap reveals the events of season 7.
Ice and fire finally meet, and the Wall - the one constant in the story - comes down.
Daenerys lands at Dragonstone with the strength to end the war in a week, and is talked - largely by Tyrion - into restraint that costs her Dorne, Highgarden and half her fleet against Euron's ambushes. She answers on the Roseroad: Drogon and forty thousand screamers against the Lannister baggage train, the field burning, Jaime charging a dragon with a spear and surviving on luck and Bronn.
Jon comes south to mine dragonglass and to ask for help against an enemy Daenerys has never seen. The season's centrepiece expedition beyond the Wall - seven names on the ice, a frozen lake, a rescue that arrives on wings - wins the proof it went for and loses Viserion doing it. The Night King throws once and does not miss.
The armistice summit in the dragonpit collects nearly every living character in one place to look a wight in the face. Cersei promises her armies and, privately, promises nothing. Littlefinger, having played every side in Winterfell one time too many, is tried in the hall he schemed in and opened by the knife he started the story with.
It ends with Jon and Daenerys together on a ship, a truth about his name spoken over the scene by the two people who know it - and the Wall at Eastwatch falling to a dead dragon's blue fire, the army walking through the breach.
