Season 2 recap Spoilers — open after watching
This recap reveals the events of season 2.
An old friend comes home, a sister comes home, and one of them is wearing a wire.
Big Pussy Bonpensiero, vanished for months, walks back into the neighbourhood with a story about a Puerto Rican girlfriend and a bad back. Janice, Tony's sister, arrives from Seattle with crystals and an agenda. And Richie Aprile finishes a ten-year sentence and returns to a world that has moved on without him - smaller, softer, and run by a man he considers a junior partner.
Richie is the season's grenade. He roughs up debtors Tony protects, courts Janice with alarming sincerity, and circles Junior looking for a coup. The engagement ends at a kitchen table, mid-argument, with a gunshot nobody plans, and the cleanup is a family matter in the worst sense.
Underneath it all is the thing Tony half-knows and will not look at: Pussy is talking to the FBI. The evidence accumulates in dreams before it accumulates in fact - talking fish, a doctor's office, a wire under a mattress - until a boat trip settles it in the only way available. The season ends with Tony feverish and grieving a man he killed, at a graduation party, holding a drink.
