Season 6 recap Spoilers — open after watching
This recap reveals the events of season 6.
The list burns down to one, and the smiling face gets a name, a church pew, and an ending.
The final act moves fast and pays everything. Red John answers the list by hunting it - suspects die, Sophie Miller's head is left in an oven as punctuation, and a bomb in a church takes the board down to survivors. The Tyger Tyger network resolves into something larger than one killer: the Blake Association, corrupt lawmen threaded through California's agencies, wearing three dots on the shoulder and quoting the poem as a password.
The reveal, when it comes, is Sheriff Thomas McAllister - affable, forgettable, airborne-phobic, presumed dead in the explosion. The confrontation Jane spends ten years reaching is not a duel of masterminds; it is a chase through a suburb, a wounded man begging in a gazebo, and Jane's hands, at last, doing the thing he always said they would. He lets the pigeons go afterward. The CBI is dissolved with the Blake Association's exposure, and the show does the brave thing: it keeps going.
Two years later, Jane is on a beach in Mexico writing letters he never sends - all of them to Lisbon. The FBI trades his return for the immunity deal, and the season's last stretch builds the new shape: Abbott's unit, Cho carried over, Fischer recruiting, and Jane negotiating his couch into the building. The letters were the confession; the last scenes start letting him mean it.
