Season 6 recap Spoilers — open after watching
This recap reveals the events of season 6.
A season begun in a prison dimension, and ended with a Kryptonian-hunting militia of Lex's making.
Clark escapes the Phantom Zone with help from a stranger who knows his father's name - Raya - and lets several somethings out with him, a bounty the season collects episode by episode: phantoms wearing bodies, each one worse than the freak-of-the-week economy the show ran on before. Zod is evicted from Lex; the wraiths remain.
The year's human machinery is the triangle at its cruellest. Lana, pregnant and half-informed, marries Lex under a threat she never sees - Lionel's, delivered on Clark's behalf against Clark's knowledge - and the wedding is the season's real villain origin: every party to it is compromised, and the show knows it.
The counterweight is the future arriving early. Green Arrow recruits Impulse, Aquaman and Cyborg; Clark declines the team and helps anyway; and the season's best hours are the Justice League forming around a hero who will not yet fly. Lex, in parallel, builds Project 33.1 - a laboratory network for metahuman weaponisation - which makes the league's mission statement for it.
It ends with the last phantom: a creature that takes Clark's DNA and becomes his double, beats him nearly to death in a cornfield - and with Lana's car exploding with her inside it, one day after she left Lex.
