MobLand season 1: summary & episode guide

10 episodes · 10 kept in The Essentials

Two London crime families, one fixer, and a night out that should never have happened. MobLand’s first season is ten episodes of one continuous story, so there is nothing to skip on a first watch. Coming back for season 2? The recap below gets you current in a few minutes, and it stays closed until you open it.

Titles and episode images are visible below. A watch path hides future details by default. An episode left out of a path is not necessarily filler.

Season 1 summary & turning points Full-season spoilers — open after watching

It starts with a night out that goes badly wrong. Eddie Harrigan, Conrad and Maeve’s grandson and the family’s standing liability, spends it with Tommy Stevenson, heir to the rival South London outfit, and Tommy never comes home. Harry Da Souza, the family’s fixer, gives the next three episodes to hiding evidence, buying time and lying to Richie Stevenson’s face. The truth is worse than a disappearance: Eddie killed Tommy, and Harry hands Richie a scapegoat, the club owner Valjon, to keep the peace. [1][3][5]

The peace never stands a chance, because the person working hardest against it lives in the Harrigans’ own house. Maeve talks Conrad into shooting his oldest friend, Archie, on nothing firmer than her word. Episode 4 all but confirms she put Eddie up to Tommy’s killing. She arranges the car bomb that kills Richie’s wife, Vron, the day after Tommy’s funeral, and she quietly tells Richie where to find Conrad’s daughter Seraphina in Antwerp. That betrayal gets Brendan, Conrad’s eldest son, killed while the family watches on a live feed. Harry saves Seraphina only by going into debt to Kat McAllister, a crime boss whose job offer he once turned down. [1][4][7][8][9][10]

The police get close, then get bought. Alice, the friend Jan makes in group therapy, is working for the detectives investigating the family. Detectives Fisk and Mukasa try to turn Richie, and he shoots them both. Colin Tattersall, a retired senior officer the inquiry leans on, turns out to be in Richie’s pocket. Alice lifts DNA at a family dinner, and in episode 9 Conrad and Maeve are arrested for murders they did not commit, minutes after Conrad finally confronts Maeve over Antwerp. [1][10][11]

Two private stories run underneath the war. Kevin, Harry’s friend since they met in prison, tracks down the guard who abused them both there and shoots him. And the family’s ugliest secret comes out: Eddie is not Conrad’s grandson but his son. Bella, Kevin’s wife, was once Conrad’s mistress. [1][4][11][13]

Key connections to revisit

These checkpoints explain the recap; they are not a complete watch path.

The night that starts the war

Tommy goes missing after a night out with Eddie, and Harry starts cleaning up before anyone knows what there is to clean. It ends with Conrad shooting Archie on Maeve’s say-so, and with the question the rest of the season answers: who is really selling out the family? [3][1]

Finding Tommy, and paying for him

Harry finds Tommy’s body, learns Eddie is the killer and pins it on Valjon. Richie says he will take Harry’s word for it, but makes Harry kill Valjon in front of him as a test and orders the whole Harrigan family to Tommy’s funeral. Episode 4 also reveals that Jan’s new friend Alice is reporting to the police. [1][4][5][6]

A funeral, then a car bomb

The funeral passes without bloodshed; the next day Vron dies in a car bomb. Conrad claims it as his own and declares war, while Maeve, behind his back, tells Richie where Seraphina and Brendan are doing a deal in Antwerp. [1][7][8]

Amsterdam, and a debt to Kat

Brendan is killed and Seraphina survives because Harry calls in Kat McAllister, leaving him owing her favours. In episode 8 Richie shoots detectives Fisk and Mukasa and makes a deal with Tattersall, the retired officer the inquiry leans on. [9][10][1]

Everything comes out at dinner

Kevin kills Rusby, the guard who abused him. The cartel will do business with the Harrigans, but its price is the informer. At dinner Alice collects the DNA for the frame, Conrad confronts Maeve, and armed police take them both away. [11][1]

One war ends, three begin

The informer is named, and Harry uses her to turn Richie’s trap against him. The finale ends the war with the Stevensons and opens three new fights; the ending section below has the details. [13][14]

Season 1 ending explained Finale spoilers — open after watching

The informer is finally named: O’Hara Delaney, the family’s own lawyer. Archie died for nothing. Harry plays her back against Richie: his men walk into a bomb at her office and an empty safe house, and at the Sinful Monkey Kevin shoots Richie and Harry kills O’Hara. Kiko, one of Harry’s crew, does not survive the night. [13][12]

Kevin steps up. He visits Conrad in prison, tells him Archie was never the traitor, and makes it plain who runs the family now. Harry hands Kevin the family’s likeliest way out: Alice on tape, confessing to the frame. Maeve rings Conrad from her cell and calls the whole bloody business a test of the family. He admits he loves her anyway. [13][12][14]

The loose ends are the point. Maeve has told Eddie that Conrad is his father and ordered him to kill Harry and Seraphina. Kat, turned down by Harry, has threatened Jan and Gina and set up a meeting with Seraphina. In the Harrigans’ kitchen, Jan cuts herself, Harry reaches to help, and her flailing arm puts the knife in his chest. It is an accident, and he makes a joke of it. The last image is Conrad on the prison landing, taking applause from the other inmates as if he owns the place. That is where season 1 leaves things. [13][12][14]

Viewing questions

Do I need to watch season 1 before season 2?

Yes. MobLand is one continuing story, and season 2 assumes you have seen season 1. If season 1 is a blur, the summary above catches you up; it stays shut until you open it.

When does MobLand season 2 come out?

It premiered on September 18, 2026, with a new episode each Friday on Paramount+ until the November 20 finale.

Can I skip any MobLand season 1 episodes?

No. What happens in episode 1 drives everything through to the finale. Some critics found the early episodes slow or overcomplicated, but none of them lifts out without breaking what follows.

How many episodes are in MobLand season 1, and how long is it?

Ten, one each Sunday on Paramount+ from March 30 to June 1, 2025. They run 40 to 59 minutes, about 7 hours 47 minutes in all.

Is MobLand connected to Ray Donovan?

No. It began in 2024 as The Donovans, a planned Ray Donovan prequel, was reworked as The Associate, and was released as MobLand, a standalone story. No characters cross over; the one thing it kept is a fixer who cleans up after a powerful family.

Is MobLand based on a true story?

No. It is an original series created by Ronan Bennett, who has said real Irish and British crime families shaped the fictional Harrigans and Stevensons. It is also unrelated to Mob Land, the 2023 crime film with John Travolta.

What happened to Tommy Stevenson?Season spoilers — open after watching

Eddie Harrigan killed him. Harry finds the body in episode 2, Eddie is revealed as the killer in episode 3, and Harry pins it on the club owner Valjon to stop Richie going to war. Episode 4 all but confirms Maeve put Eddie up to it.

What happens in the season 1 finale?Season spoilers — open after watching

The informer is unmasked: O’Hara Delaney, the family’s own lawyer, had been feeding Richie. Archie, shot in episode 1 as the suspected traitor, was innocent, and Maeve had been working against the family too: she gave Richie the Antwerp location. The ending explanation above has the rest.

Where does season 1 leave everyone?Season spoilers — open after watching

Richie is dead and the war with the Stevensons is over, but Conrad and Maeve are in prison, Kevin has made it plain he runs the family, Maeve has turned Eddie against Harry and Seraphina, and Kat is circling. Harry ends the season with Jan’s knife in his chest after an accident in the Harrigans’ kitchen, he jokes about it, and the season leaves his condition open. This guide stops at the season 1 finale.
